Serendipity

Serendipity;
(n) the chance occurrence of events in a good way

//

hello friends!!
today...i'm finally going to talk about how D and i met and our story (not too detailed of course!)
its been about 5 months now and still people are frequently asking us to share this story so okay, here it is!
i thought today will be an apt time to publish this post cos its D's birthday hehe.
if you're wondering how we celebrated that, i have sneaks on dayre before the full post is up:)

so okay! let's begin with...how we met.
D and i met through a band concert.
some time in november '13, my primary school friend from raffles jc band asked me if i could help him promote their band concert to the hwachong students.
(coincidentally, my pri sch friend is also called Danial, just different spelling haha)
its a simple request so how could i decline?:)
at that point, my big brother was in J2 and i think As just ended for him.
he was in the exco for hwachong band, but it was the end of the year already so he already stepped down.
so i told him about it and he said "oh, just text the band major and student conductor la. they will do it for you one."
so i was like okay, i know who the student conductor is (my sec 4 classmate), then who is the band major?
so he was like "daniel."
and i was like "which daniel? there are alot of daniels in jc leh. my class already got one lol."
so he said "daniel poon."
at that point of time i didn't know who he was la, so i was just like, okay i hope he helps me with this...

and so i whatsapped both my friend and daniel, but you guys are only interested in the latter la i know hahaha.
"Hi! I'm Chi Ting, Kah Loon's sister:) sorry i had to get your no. from my bro cos my friend from raffles band was trying to contact you. They're inviting HC band to their concert and i've asked them to send the details to huaxian cos my bro said you were overseas. I was wondering if you've gotten the email and notified the other band members about it? sorry for being so random! i'm doing my friend a favour."
"Oh hello!! i've received it. i've sent out an sms to the section leaders, they'll get back to me soon!"
"Ok thanks! Hope to see HC band there!"

and so i was thinking, phew ok my job is done, end of convo and end of story.
but..the convo continued hahaha.
he asked me questions like "oh so are you going for the concert too?:)" etc and ya the convo continued...everyday, the past 1.5years till today.

so yups thats how we got to know each other!
not romantic or anything one haha.
from then on, our convos continued daily and we got to know more about each other.
and we found out that we have quite alot in similar! hobbies, music etc.
so, we always had alot to talk about, and talked about the randomest things.
as we got closer, we started going on outings.
the first outing was to watch my seniors' performance at fullerton's hotel lobby, they were singing christmas carols!
i casually mentioned the performance and D said he's always wanted to go for such a performance, and so we went together.
it was surprisingly not very awkward even though its the first time we met face to face.
and it was xmas eve that day.
i totally did not expect it but he gave me a xmas present LOL (godiva chocolates).
i thanked him for it after opening it at home and told him it was very yummy!
then he said that he actually hasn't tried it before cos he doesn't buy this for himself, its too expensive.
so i was like, wow this guy is very nice leh? :o hahaha.

throughout the year we met up more often.
we had study sessions at kap (before it got closed down><), i went for his band concert, he came for my choir concert, mid autumn festival, met up during faculty outings etc.
our friends started to notice and everytime "niao" us la, implying that there's something going on.
but some time in march, i don't know how we got to the topic but we decided that at that point of time, studies was the priority and we should remain friends.
so okay, from that point on i already made up my mind and regarded this relationship as platonic.
but well, as things started to move on i slowly found it hard to force myself to believe that this is really purely platonic, cos he's so so incredibly nice to me. (read below)

now, another popular question was "why did you choose D out of others?".
hahaha well this is awkward to answer.
to be honest i've had some bad encounters with hc guys during school time, and i was about to give up on hc guys and wait until uni already lol.
but well,i guess, its mainly because he has the 2 most important qualities i look for in a guy (honesty and sincerity), cute is a bonus point hahaha
he has been very honest with me, i can tell.
sometimes, the truth may not sound pleasing to the ear, and so many choose not to tell the truth and tell you a lie instead, which is pleasing to the ear.
he is a very straightforward person and just told me what i wanted to know, very honestly.
it wasn't what i would have wanted to hear but at least i know its the truth.
(i asked about his past r/s and ecs and whatnot btw haha)
and of course, sincerity.
he has been nothing but sincere.

i'll just give a few examples i remember haha.
like...there was once i had a tiff with a close friend and was very sad over it.
i didn't tell him the details but he knew i was upset.
he isn't the type who has ways with words and know how to comfort people, so even though he knew i was upset, over the phone, with words, there was nothing much he could do.
the next morning however, i got a surprise.
he turned up at my class bench with my favourite snack and a handwritten note to cheer me up:)
i was quite touched la, cos i thought over the phone he didn't say much it must have seemed insignificant to him.
and in J2, when i suffered from acid reflux (due to stress and irregular meal times) and was sick for a few days,
he prepared a care pack (with snacks and a note) for me when i returned back to school.
and texted me to say that whenever i'm hungry just let him know, he'll go down to the canteen to buy food for me and deliver to my classroom (cos i said that during breaks i'm hungry sometimes but really need a nap to energize for the next class.)
and for my birthday last year, he made a card for me and surprised me by turning up at the gate downstairs my house.
shock of my life really LOL. (luckily i wasn't in an unglam state like i usually am when at home hahaha)
so yup, i was really very very touched by all he has done for me.

after As ended, we went cycling on one of the days.
and...that was when he confessed.
to be honest i already expected it, cos he wasn't very subtle and dropped hints months before lol.
and well... i didn't accept him on the spot.
i'm the kind who likes to think alot and analyze everything, so i felt that at that point, i needed some time to think through everything.
i was unsure of my feelings.
i wanted to accept the relationship only if i liked him for who he is, and not what he had done for me.
also, how was i to know if he has thought through this carefully?
i told him to think through, "do you really like me or do you just like the idea of me?"
i know la sounds cheem and philosophical but basically it just means that does he really like me for who i am inside, and not anything else.
he told me, "honestly, i won't lie, i may have been attracted to you by looks at first. but your character made me stay."
and i believed him.
to be honest, i had many considerations.
we were very similar, yet we had differences as well.
i was worried about lifestyle differences, dietary differences, religion...
these may be things that seems insignificant at first, but if you think through thoroughly, these are the things that affects us in every part of our life, and is important in the long run.
and so, i told him i cannot give him an answer right then, i also cannot tell him how much time i needed to figure things out, it may take weeks, months, years.
and so, i said, "if you feel that this is a waste of time because things will go on without being official, then its okay, i respect your choice."
but he said that he'll wait, no matter how long it takes.
"i already waited a year for you, i'm willing to wait, no matter how long you need."
and so...i took a grand total of, a few months to sort things out. (lucky him right, no need wait for years LOL).
and yup, thats when we became official!:)

so far, things have been good:)
but every relationship has its up and downs.
i'm just thankful that D is rly rly understanding.
some days i get really bad pms and angst and mood swings and he's always giving into me and even i feel bad about it.
i'm just like hormones can you not make me upset for no reason T^T
ok sorry for the sidetrack haha.

so yes i think thats all i have to say about our story.
so now people please don't ask me to keep telling yall again okay hahaha.

also, a few days ago a junior asked me for relationship advice(idk why, i dont think im an expert at this)
but okay, all i can say is, do not rush into things.
take time to slowly know each other and never decide on anything if you still have doubts that you know will trouble you.
that aside, also do not be afraid to fall in love for fear of getting hurt.
you'll grow in different ways, so give yourself and the other party a chance, if all seems right but the only doubt is whether or not you dare to take the risk of getting hurt.

and lastly, to end off.....
happy birthday my fav boy.

till the next;
xoxo

hi guys!! i haven't done show reviews in so long, thought i'd do up a quick one today to show you guys what i've been watching in my free time!:)
Doctor stranger:
I've always been a fan of medical dramas, and this one is definitely one of my favourites of all time! The storyline is abit more unique, its not just a medical drama cos it incorporates a bit of politics regarding north and south korea, which made the whole thing ALOT more interesting. I thought Lee Jong Suk's acting in this drama was really quite on point and i enjoyed it very much. He basically acts as a super genius talented surgeon by the way, which was really cool. If you aren't a fan of blood i suggest you don't watch this though haha.
Rating:8.5/10
Pinnocchio:
I watched this drama because of the lead actors, Lee Jong Suk and Park Shin Hye! To be honest the synopsis didn't make an impression on me at first, the idea of a newscaster drama didn't seem that interesting. But i guess i was proven wrong cos i did enjoy this drama a fair bit. A touch of murder, mystery and vengence definitely spiced up the drama. I liked the chemistry between the two leads, it was so much better than in Heirs! The plot was so intriguing at first, and it peaked around the middle, but died down near the end, which is a pity. However i think this is still worth a watch!
Rating:7/10
Heirs:
Once again, i watched this because of the cast (Lee Min Ho and Park Shin Hye). But yes as many reviews have said, this drama was a disappointment. The plot is so cliche until cannot cliche anymore, there was no plot twist in any way and no high and lows. It was rather boring, and even the chemistry between the lead actors weren't there. The star studded cast (Minhyuk from CNBlue, Krystal from fx etc) might have helped attract viewers at first, but i guess if the plot itself isn't good, its hard to keep the interest of viewers. The actors in this drama aren't bad to be honest, but the plot just didn't do any of them justice. The only good thing about this drama is Kim Woo Bin to be honest lol.
Rating: 4.5/10
The Girl Who Sees Smells:
This is the latest drama i finished, featuring Shin Se Kyung and Yoochun from JYJ! I think the whole idea of the lead actress being able to see different smells is a refreshing one, although this drama IS adapted from a manga or something. Somehow the director managed to make something so fictional seem possible in real life, which i think is commendable. This storyline revolves around a serial murder case, which ties together relationships between the characters quite nicely. The suspense factor isn't there though, cos the murderer is revealed quite early in the story, though there was a minor plot twist in the middle. The chemistry between the lead actors is so-so, not too bad. I did enjoy this drama a fair bit, i would think its worth a watch!
Rating:7/10
Liar Game:
I watched this because of two reasons, Kim So Eun and the synopsis haha! I first noticed Kim So Eun cos she acted in Boys Over Flowers, then recently she is in the variety show We Got Married as well and i thought she has quite alot of spunk. She acts as an innocent, kind girl in this drama, too kind for her own good, which i think she portrayed really well (after comparing with her real life personality haha). If you like intellectual dramas, this one is not bad cos it requires thinking as you watch the drama and try to think of tricks to win the "games" in the drama, alongside the lead actors. The bad guy in this show is super good btw! Acting on point and he just naturally has that evil vibes so it was quite suitable lol. This is adapted from a manga as well if I'm not wrong! Worth a watch, i enjoyed this:)
Rating:7.5/10
So other than korean dramas, here are some other shows i've been watching!
I've been watching every season of America's Next Top Model and also the Australia version since i was young, so when Asia's Next Top Model was launched i knew i had to watch it! Honestly, the US version is alot more drama and thus many find it more interesting. However i actually quite like the Asia version cos its more relatable! Plus, many of the episodes are filmed in our very own Singapore and i feel so proud of that hehe. I remember i first started watching it in sec 4, when I accidentally chanced upon it when i went into the living room to do my work and the tv was on. I was hooked within the first 5 minutes and couldn't stop watching it, so i ended up staying past midnight to finish my assignment lol! The themes for each episode are really quite unique and creative. Not to mention, the clothes they wear in the show are really pretty yet wearable, unlike the high fashion walkway kind that has more artistic value than "wearability" value. I found out that the clothes from the show are from Zalora omg. Even better cos can shop for the looks i like hahaha. There's a link to the looks here if you guys are interested!
I also like looking at the hair and makeup done by the stylists of the show cos its so on point!! So far i like season 3 the best! I was super excited cos i saw a familiar face on this season (Aimee)! She modelled for local blogshops and i've always thought she had such a sweet look and gorgeous features. A lot of girls are aiming to be models nowadays, maybe not the runway kind due to height limits, but maybe freelance or blogshop models. I would recommend they watch this show cos it offers an insight into how the modelling world is like. Personally i've done quite a few photoshoots, whether personal or for other blogshops. And when i tell my friends modelling is actually tough, they don't believe me!! They think its just "stand there and pose lor", but its actually not. I think if they watched this show they'll believe me hahaha. So yup, this is a show I personally enjoy and would recommend!
I've actually been watching quite a few more shows but i guess i'll stop here today and continue next time!
Now go watch the shows guys hehe!
Till the next;
xoxo

hola! i did another shoot for pyzis sometime back and i'll show you guys some of my fav shots:)
it was a really really tiring shoot cos the sun wasn't cooperating and we had difficulty getting the lighting right, which was a pity cos the scenery and background was so gorgeous!
i'd definitely come back to this area to do a shoot again in future.

okay so anyways, this collection features evening gowns and formal dresses!
so if you have an event upcoming, check out this collection maybe?:)
those who know me may not believe this but my pick from this collection is the black dress haha.
it has ruffles and a slight mermaid cut in from bottom down, which was surprisingly flattering!
it also has a sweetheart neckline and gorgeous floral prints in a silky material.
prices for this collection is a tad bit higher than normal but definitely not considered expensive since its evening gowns/formal dresses.

so if you're keen, check them out here!

till the next;

Spring Bloom

/ / m a i n / /

hola! i'm quite proud of myself for updating frequently lately:)
its like i got some blogging mojo going on!

some time back, i brunched at boufe with nikks!
if you're wondering how the name boufe came about, it means boutique +cafe!
so yes, this unique cafe stocks apparels from ohvola.com :)
location wise, its abit inaccessible, but i assure you the food and ambience makes it worth a trip!

directions:
1)after tapping out from redhill mrt, you should see a bakery right in front.
walk towards your left, there should be a bus stop.
2) take bus 132, two stops.
3) after alighting, look for "phoenix park".
4) take a buggy ride from the super nice security guard, or walk in yourself.
just keep walking further in, its near the end.

boufe has a decent selection of desserts, they're quite famous for their strawberry shortcake, i'd like to try that next time!

we took some photos while waiting for our table to be prepared.
(ps/ the waiting time was about 1 hour on a saturday)

service was efficient and our food was served really quickly.
we ordered:
eggs benedict
smoked salmon croissant
citron tart
lychee cooler
hazelnut latte

my top pick is the smoked salmon croissant!
i'm usually not a fan of croissant but i went head over heels for this, it was SO good.
they were really generous with the salmon and eggs, but i wished they gave a bit more of the croissant cos its so yummy hehe.

as for the eggs benny, it was not bad, but nowadays eggs bennies are becoming rather similar in taste so its hard to find one that is truly outstanding.

i really liked my lychee drink, it was cool and refreshing for the weather!
also, it wasn't too sweet and the lychees were juicy.
nikks said the coffee was good too!

as for dessert, we shared a citron meringue tart.
it was a good choice cos its so zesty and fruity, a perfect way to end the meal on a refreshing note!

this series of photos were snapped in like, 2-3 minutes?
nikks said its considered speed photo taking haha!
well we didn't have much of a choice cos the sky was rumbling and luckily we left in time before the huge downpour!

also, i would just like to commend the staff at boufe cos service there is really top notch!
everyone was really friendly and cheery, and they go the extra mile.
when nikks and i were taking photos outside, the orange lighting on the floor was getting in the way of our pictures, and boufe's boss offered to turn it off for us.
service like this is really heartwarming, i'd definitely go back again hehe.

shopped abit in town and took a few (ok quite alot) of selfies before heading for dinner at my grandma's!
daniel dropped by too and made my grandma very very happy hahaha.
i haven't seen her smile like that for some time now :')

till the next;

Greyscale

/ / m a i n / /

hola!! new update again cos i'm feeling hardworking hehe.
so last week, i had a good one to one date with le bestie.
we catched avengers and it was really quite good!!
better than the first avengers movie in my opinion;)
it felt good to watch a movie in HD haha, my last cinema movie was intersteller, a good 6 months ago lol!

i wore a grey tweed midi skirt from shop ad.el, since it was just a casual outing.
i'm really into grey tones lately and this was in a pretty shade of grey!
i love the tweed material as well. sometimes tweed can be abit scratchy on the skin but this was alright:)
sizing wise, its slightly loose so i had to pair it with a belt, and it was good that they had belt hoops!
the quality for this piece is overall pretty good, and it ended at the perfect length which is flattering for my petite frame!;)
oh yes, and before i forget, this also comes with cute double pockets at the front!
i'm really in love with pockets now cos i can fit my ezlink card etc and its so handy hehe.
here's some visuals sylvia took for me!:)

after the movie, we had major korean food cravings so we decided to have yoogane, which is famous for their dakgalbi.
dakgalbi is basically a spicy mix of ricecake, cabbage, other veggies, meat, and any other toppings you'd like to add on.
yoogane's dakgalbi was quite delicious and i would definitely go back there again!
i highly recommend their chewy noodles, which was really unique hehe.
we were so stuffed omg, the portion was huge :o
bad quality cos iphone + bad angle but i dont care haha, we look so happy to tuck into the yummy dakgalbi!!!
ended off the night with a philharmonic concert at gardens by the bay with D.
we wished we brought our mothers along, they were playing all the oldies and our mums would have loved it!
my brother's friend and my classmate was performing too and we enjoyed their performance very much:)

till the next;
xoxo

PS/ im now starting to use dayre more often!!:) for those who don't use the app (its not very popular yet), u can still read my daily ramblings at dayre.me/etherealpeonies! :)

Pyzis

hola everyone!!
sometime back, i modelled for pyzis.
it was a really efficient photoshoot and i'm loving how the photos turned out!
here's a little lookbook, enjoy the visuals!:)

i liked the mix of apparels in this collection.
the first few dresses are vintage, inspired by famous architecture and various countries.
not to mention, the material for the dresses are really good!
there is a lightweight kimono as well, one of my picks for this collection.
the prints on the kimono is very pretty and bohemian.
and the last one, the kaleidoscope, colourful tank dress, made of a very silky, comfortable material!

another plus point is that the apparels are very reasonably priced.
so go on, hop on over to pyzis's site to view the new collection!

till the next;
